As the renovations continue, how exciting it is to finally be seeing some of the new areas start to open up. The bar next to Shamrocks opened towards the end of August. More new areas will come online as the months roll on. So make sure you visit regularly to keep up with all the changes.

There was a bit of confusion early with the Coffee Shop moving to the old Tryline area outside the Sports Bar. But when our members found it they were pleasantly surprised by the extra light and fresh air it offers overlooking the playing fields. And while we wait for the new one to open, you’ll find our temporary coffee shop to be a great location to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat as you watch the world go by.

We’ve barely even started on it, but Shamrocks already has a lot more seating than before and is offering some great value deals during the construction period. The 10 for $10 Monday to Friday lunchtime special is now well established and very popular with members. We have been rotating some of the dishes so there’s always something new for you to try. In the evenings from October, we are introducing a similar idea with six great offers for just $15.

In other news, the Badboys are back again on 27 October. Their legion of female admirers ensure this is always a huge night out for the ladies and it generally sells out well in advance. So if you were thinking of going, don’t delay picking up your tickets.

Countdown Reloaded are coming on 10 November with a nostalgic tribute to one of the golden eras of popular music. They have been here before and received rave reviews. As Molly would say, do yourself a favour and get along to that one.

For our country fans we have another big tribute night with the Kings and Queens of Country appearing on 17 November. All the big names will be featured, such as Cash, Brooks, Parton and more, so that’s another show you won’t want to miss.

Join us for all the colour and excitement of our Melbourne Cup Luncheon and receive a free mystery bet on the Cup, sparkling wine and canapés on arrival as well as a sumptuous hot and cold buffet (featuring a selection of seafood options) followed by petit desserts. Seats to the luncheon are strictly limited and I recommend you book early to avoid missing out.

Continuing the Spring Carnival theme, our major promotion The $20,000 Brothers Invitational Cash Stakes involves three virtual horse races with prizes for our first three placegetters in each. The first two are open to all members, while the feature race is by invitation only with the number of starters limited to 150. Nominations to participate in the feature will be drawn every day right up to and including the race day itself on November 12.

The 9th Annual Carols on the Green is coming up soon too. We’ve been co-hosting this night of family entertainment with St Edmunds College for the past eight years and along the way have managed to raise in excess of $125,000 for St Vinnies. What an achievement! Keep an eye out for updates.

With all the construction going on, it might not look like it from the outside right now, but I can assure you there is still plenty happening inside. I look forward to seeing you at the club.
